About Me!
Hey! Thanks for stopping by!
I'm Joyce, the person behind Kitsunekoart!
I'm a musician, rock climber, forensic chemist, cat mom, watercolour enjoyer, and of course, fibre artist!
I've been knitting/crocheting since my elementary school years (so long ago!), and then started pattern testing since 2023 and spinning since 2024! Growing up I've always been very creative, and after I was introduced to spinning by one of my University professors, I was hooked! I absolutely LOVE the process of turning fibre into yarn. It's like magic!
I didn't always know where I'd be going with life, and spent some time away from the arts to focus on attaining the career I thought I should have, instead of pursuing the passions I have for creating. After starting to officially tech edit patterns in 2025, I realized I wanted to fully pursue my creative passions, and share my art. So when an opportunity came along, I took a chance and here we are! I hope you all like my handspun yarn :)
You may be wondering what 'Kitsunekoart' means. Kitsunekoart is a portmanteau of Kitsune-Neko-Art. 'Kitsune' and 'Neko' translating to 'fox' and 'cat' respectively from Japanese, to mean fox-cat-art. I knew I wanted to have 'kitsune' play a part in my identity, and it was my friend who had the idea of combining fox (my absolute favourite animal) and cat (another favourite) to create Kitsunekoart! I relate in essence, to kitsune, and they have been a symbol of strength and mindfulness for me, but we can talk about foxes another day :)
